bruce almighty

God asked Bruce, You had my powers for a week. How many people have you helped? Bruce answered, “I took care a few things, I righted a few wrongs in my own life first, ok? I was going to help others. I think I can help the world.
. . .

Bruce asked God, “What about the voices in my head? Is that part of the hilarity?”
God answered, No, those are prayers. You keep ignoring them, they’re going to build up.

. . .

Bruce asked God, How do you make somebody love You without affecting free will?
God answered, Well.. welcome to My world, Bruce. When you come up with an answer to that one, you let Me know.

One of the Jim Carey's movie I love the most !! He plays Bruce Nolan, a struggling man which somehow does not have anything right at the moment (luck-less, job-less, friend-less, and relation-less with his girlfriend). He 'asked' for God's help, then God (Morgan Freeman) granted it. Now can Bruce improve his life with God's power rest in him?

A good movie, I believe ! It is a mixed of comedy, relationship, life problem, and some theology 'concept' (i quote above). The movie gives reflection about how mankind -us- think that we could do things better if we were God.

Is it true ?
Can we truly negotiate with God ?
Do you think God has wrong plan in us ?
Moreover, is it easy to become God?
One thing I'm sure.. as Bruce said,"life is bee.. e.. a.. utiful !!"

criminal minds - season iv

"i hold doctorates in chemistry, mathematics, and engineering, as well as B.A. in psychology and sociology.. im also completing an additional B.A. in philosophy.."

cool, aint it!! haha..
what a series !!

a bunch of expert profiler, co-called BAU (Behaviour Analysis Unit), trying to find the criminals (they called it an unsub - unknown subject) by thinking just like they think.

a quick glance of the team members:

Rossi (formerly was Gordon),
a senior of this team, experienced, very wisdom, and charismatic. (though i'd prefer Gordon)

Hotch,
‘another chief’ in terms of bureou.
he’s so professional, strict, serious, short and snappy, and smart !

Reid,
the one that said the statement above (no need more explanation about him, i suppose)

Morgan,
a tough one, athletic, and smart.

Prentiss (was Elle),
smart, quick, and responsive !

JJ,
she's the one usually deals with public, or you can say 'customer service'

Garcia,
a computer geek, hardly no information couldn’t be retrieved when she says, “i’m on it”

for me, season 1 is okey, season 2 is thrilled! i skipped season 3 for 'some reasons' *grin*, and now im in season 4. and as far as i can tell, this season is tremendous!!
what i reckon now -which i just found out-, the series not also ends up in good ending, but somehow there also has positive messages implied in each of the episodes.

team work, compassion, crazy-ness (of the unsub, of course), profesionality, know-what-to-do/act, real life problems, intelligence, experiences, compassions, etc etc.. those things are all mixed up in here..
great series! just watch it !

Rambo IV

i just finished watching Rambo IV, another sequel of John Rambo. my personal right on the first place about the movie is.. he was just trying to come back, i guess :p

anyway, the movie is much less no different than the previous three (the first one is the best, still!),
but here i notice some variance:

‘more’ bloods shed all over the war-land
when i said ‘more’, that means – instead of ‘too much’ – it was too wasteful of blood. well, yes, for example, he cut his enemy’s belly thoroughly.. *hihi* or he head-shot the bad guy , somehow i amazed, so that you will see a head blasted from its neck.. or when the bullets splashed out all around the enemy, it just like you throw an orange on the floor *pyarrr.. crrrrrrtttt* haha..

somehow it just like ‘different’ plot
what was it? the problem arose when a group of messenger ask rambo to help them go across a river to assist a war-village in burma. as a well-experienced soldier, he just could not help stay on the boat when the missionarries were held as prisoners, and might be executed soon.
then the action began..
---------------------------------------------

it was a straight forward movie-plot. you could guess easily who’s gonna be the winner and the loser.
however, i was quite surprised that somewhat some of the good people was executed. the action-tensed itself was impressive..

just wanna append one crucial thought which came across my mind.
the missionaries are to disagree on taking someone else’s life, i guess..
but, what if.. it is carried out,
in order to survive.. ? or..
with the intention of saving other’s life.. ? or..
to prevent more crucial damage.. ?

is it acceptable?

2008’s (1) - movies..

i’ve just compiled my best movies in 2008.
actually, i was intended to blog it last december, but it seemed i was too ‘busy’ :p

since there are many categories, certainly i can not just pick one winner of all.
so i will choose maximum 3 movies of each categories..
i believe, a good movie should have a (or some) implied message(s) for the viewers.
and my personal remark is based on my personal view, no need to agree with me.
here they are..

drama:
in the valey of elah (faith, hope, and love)
the bucket list (what would you do if the verdict is in front of you?)
great debaters (life is an art.. not just a concept)

action:
dark knight (it’s not easy to be a white hero.. and joker, you did a extraordinary performance! )
iron man (intellectual + persistent + technology + compassionate = real hero)
butterfly on a wheel (sometimes you need to ‘learn’ before you ‘understand’)

comedy:
evan almighty (‘God’ never wrongs)
madagascar 2 (it’s about a ‘humanic’ friendship)
kungfu panda (what you see is not what others see)

others:
meet the spartan (note: you should watch 300 first, then you will enjoy it)
juno (is it about.. grown-up teenagers or immature adults ?)
maid of honour (how far would you go for the one?)

worst (dissapointed watched it):
indiana jones 4 (too ‘much’.. bored.. predictable..)
bangkok dangerous (cheap movie ‘borrowing’ great actor)
good luck, chuck (the best thing about this movie, just jessica alba)

note:
dark knight is gonna be the absolute winner, while indiana jones 4 is the perfect loser.

on Dark Knight

yeah, i found some interesting 'attributes of life' on this film :

** (free-translation dialog) **

Proximity (Alfred)
Rachel : "You know Bruce better than anyone, don't you?"
Alfred : "Yes, indeed"

Professionalism (Lucifer)
As Batman asked Lucifer to help him doing something 'bad', he said, "Ok, I'll do it. But consider this also as my resignation request"
Batman answered cold, "Dont forget to type your name!"
It's not an easy and nice order.
But Lucifer did his job wholeheartedly, and finished it strong.. quitting as he said !

Sacrificing (Batman)
"This city must not know what Dent has done. You must find another scape-goat. That's me".

Un-Perseverance (Harvey)
When it comes to lose someone/something you love the most, will you stand still ?

Commitment (Rachel)
A lady prefers a committed man, not a super-hero man

Chaotic (Joker)
"There is only 1 rule : No rules !"
